PREPARATION
1.
Turn the oven on broil.
PREPARING THE MEATBALLS
2.
Heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet and add minced garlic and onions.
3.
Cook till the onions are translucent and set aside to cool slightly.
4.
Mix together bread crumbs and milk in a large bowl and add ground beef, onion mixture, parmesan, parsley, salt and pepper. Be gentle while mixing everything because you want to incorporate as much air into the mixture as possible.
5.
Roll mixture into golf sized balls. You should get 15-16 meatballs with this mixture.
6.
In the same skillet, heat remaining olive oil. Add the meatballs and brown them on all side for about 3-4 minutes.
7.
Pour in the marinara sauce, and simmer for 20-25 minutes till the meatballs are cooked through.
ASSEMBLING
8.
Cut the rolls horizontally, keeping them in in one piece (do not separate the rolls).
9.
Spoon the meatballs onto the bottom half of the rolls.
10.
Spoon the sauce over the meatballs and sprinkle the grated Asiago cheese over the meatballs and sauce.
11.
Place the top back on and put into the broiler for 2-3 minutes to brown the tops and melt the cheese.
TO SERVE
12.
Remove from the broiler and, following the lines in the rolls, cut each one and serve immediately.
